Houston weather: Stormy Sunday for FIFA World Cup match, flood watch issued

Deep tropical moisture moving into Southeast Texas is raising rain chances for World Cup Sunday, bringing the threat of localized street flooding and heavy downpours through the middle of the week.
The Woodlands, with its historically conservative voter base, may be a key area to watch in Ted Brown's efforts to court disaffected Republican voters. As a master-planned community with a strong presence of professionals and families, The Woodlands has typically leaned Republican in past elections. However, if Brown can successfully tap into dissatisfaction with the party's nominee, he may be able to siphon off some of these traditionally conservative votes. The fact that Brown received a record number of votes for a Libertarian candidate in the 2024 Senate race suggests that he may have a viable path forward in appealing to voters who are looking for an alternative to the major parties. It will be interesting to see how Brown's campaign resonates with voters in The Woodlands and surrounding areas of Montgomery County.
