Harris County electronic monitoring program doesn't track defendants who become fugitives

The number of Harris County defendants placed on GPS or curfew-based electronic monitoring more than doubled between 2021 and 2024, according to Harris County Pretrial Services.
The Woodlands' own data center landscape could soon be under scrutiny thanks to Erin Brockovich's crowd-sourced map initiative. As the community continues to grow and attract new businesses, its data center presence is likely to expand as well. With major hubs like Town Center and The Woodlands Mall, the area's demand for reliable and efficient data storage is on the rise. The environmental impact of these facilities, particularly their energy and water usage, will be a key concern for local residents and officials. Montgomery County's history of flooding and hurricane risks also raises questions about the resilience and preparedness of these data centers in the face of extreme weather events. As Brockovich's map takes shape, The Woodlands Township and local residents will be watching closely to see how the community's data centers are represented and what steps are being taken to mitigate their environmental footprint.
